CPAP
The
most effective treatment of sleep apnea is the CPAP device (Continuous
Positive Airway Pressure). The device includes a tube and mask
that is affixed to the patient's nose and/or mouth. The device
provides a steady flow of air in the patient's throat. The patient
can freely breath out against the flow of air. The steady flow
of air maintains airway patency (the
airway stays wide open).
